Here is a little update on what God is doing in Poland. This year began with some rather big changes when it comes to the team stationed here. Michael returned to Denmark and Anna is now back in the US to gather more support. But Kasia and me are still here, though, and God is doing great things in Poland.
New disciple training program
One of the exciting projects we have been working on the latest months is a new disciple training program. Our dream is to make it become a daily Bible school, but in the starting phase it will take place two weekends every month for a six-month period.
This is going to be a joint-venture between Nations Calling, Euromission and some other Polish pastors and leaders. As a result, we have more people to divide the work between and a bigger network of contacts.
Our plan is to start this September so we have been quite busy the latest weeks. The curriculum needs to be completed, the webpage and brochures need to be made, pastors and leaders have to be contacted and we need to advertise it.
The name of the training program will be Antioch and the idea behind the name is a place where people can be trained and sent out.
The International meetings
It's been great to see new people coming to the international meetings. More of them have become quite active when it comes to helping and they also hang our longer after the meeting.
Some weekends ago I had a very encouraging talk with one of the students after the meeting. He told me that he had been raised in a Buddhist home, but his girlfriend was Christian. Because of her he decided to come to our meetings and has been there several times now. What encouraged me was that he said that every time he came he could really sense that this was right. I believe it was the presence of God he was experiencing and we had a good talk about where to read in the Bible.
Talking with that student made me realize the importance of these meetings. Students from all over the world are coming to study in Lublin. Through these meetings we can reach people from many different countries and religions - even without leaving the country.
We have now moved the international meetings from Saturday to Sunday. This makes it possible for us to help another church in town with a project called "Street Church". We have already been helping them a couple of times on Fridays and it is great to see the impact of this work.
Twice a month they have been distributing food in the center of town and preaching the Gospel to those who come. What is more, recently they have started to have meetings on Fridays for those people. I have preached there twice the latest months and every time the place has been completely full.
Many people responded to the alter call every time I was there. Though some of them probably only come to get free food, many seem to be genuine in their response. Some of them have even started to help during the Sunday meetings.
Need for new workers
When Jesus was talking about the harvest He told His disciples to pray for workers and not for the harvest. Why was that? It was because Jesus knew that if workers went out, people would get saved.
The problem has never been the harvest! Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He told His disciples that He had been given ALL authority on heaven and earth - so how could the harvest be a problem? The challenge is getting workers into the harvest fields, because they have their free will.
So when you pray for Europe, pray for workers!
