So It’s Monday morning and we’re back from an awesome trip to a town in the southern region of Poland called Bytom. We visited a small church with some wonderful people who knew they had a big God. Even though the church itself was not so big, they managed to open a café in the middle of town and it was inspiring to see how this could be used as an evangelistic tool. We were there to teach and inspire the people when it comes to evangelism and in the evening we also had evangelistic meetings in the café the church had started. When I first heard that we should have evangelistic meetings in the café, my first worry was “But we don't have any band; and that means no music”, but this is not a problem if you have a creative team. What they did was to find some “I Am Second” testimony videos on YouTube. They are professionally made, with music in the background and they present some very strong stories in a modern way. The people who share their testimonies are usually quite famous, and that of course makes it even more interesting. So we set up a program where we showed one “I Am Second” film which usually lasts 5-10 minutes. Then one member of the team shared their story, and then we saw a new “I Am Second” testimony. After that we had a short evangelistic preaching and then we invited people to prayer. It was simple, and I must admit that it was also very good. Several people stayed for prayer and the church also did a very good job in talking to the people who came.
The first evening there came a young boy that seemed to be very open, so right after the meeting Michael started to talk to him. During the conversation he told Michael that his mother had leukemia and he was wondering if we could pray for her. Of course, Michael agreed and it turned out that the boy had already called his mom, so a few minutes later she came. Michael and some others from the team prayed for her and she could really feel something happening inside her body. On top of feeling that something was happening physically she could also feel a heavy burden being lifted from her heart. They next day they also came to the meeting and they were very happy. It also seemed that they had got a good connection to the church. The street evangelism is of course, to some extent, dependent upon good weather, so before we went to Bytom this had been in our prayers for the trip. The weeks before it had been extremely cold here in Poland, but when we came to Bytom the sky cleared and we had a beautiful blue sky the whole weekend. It was not summer temperature, but it was sunny and we were able to have many good talks with the people there. One of the people we met on the street was Adam. The first day when we met him he was drunk and made a lot of fun when it came to God. But the next day he came to the meeting and sat during the whole program. We could see that the testimonies made an impression on him and I do believe that God is working strongly in him. We had hoped to experience more healing but among the people we talked to there were not many who where sick; I guess that is a good thing though :-) However, we are thankful to God for being able to serve Him and to look back on a weekend where people have been saved, healed and inspired.
